Ambassador Dwight L. Bush, Sr. recently completed a successful three-year tenure as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco where he was responsible for an annual operating budget of $50 million and program commitments of over $1 billion. Decorated by King Mohammed VI with the Alawaite Wissam medal (the highest award given by the King to a non-Moroccan), Ambassador Bush was the first diplomat inducted into the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in the Morocco Hall of Fame and received the State Department’s Distinctive High Honor Award, the highest award given to a non-career Department of State employee.

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, Mr. Bush was a senior executive with 35 years of engagement in corporate finance, banking, entrepreneurship, and corporate and philanthropic governance.  He began his career in 1979 at Chase Manhattan Bank where he had a successful career that included corporate banking assignments in the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, and project finance and corporate finance assignments in New York and Washington, D.C. After nearly 15 years of increasing responsibility, Ambassador Bush resigned from Chase as a Managing Director and joined SLM Corporation where he served as Vice President of Corporate Development. In 1997, Ambassador Bush joined Stuart Mill Capital, LLC, a private equity/leveraged buyout firm and, among other things, served as Chief Financial Officer of SatoTravel, a Stuart Mill controlled company. Subsequent to Stuart Mill Capital, Ambassador Bush founded D.L. Bush & Associates, a financial and business advisory firm. During this period, Ambassador Bush founded and served as CEO of Urban Trust Bank and affiliates.

Ambassador Bush has been involved in a broad range of corporate, educational, and philanthropic governance activities, having served for 10 years as a Director of the GAVI Vaccine Alliance and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Cornell University and Xavier University of Louisiana. Ambassador Bush was a Trustee of the National Symphony Orchestra and serves as the Vice Chairman of the board of EntreMed, Inc, and on the board of Directors of JER Investors Trust, Inc. Ambassador Bush, a graduate of Cornell University, is certified as an independent financial expert.
