Douglas Steenland was for many years President and CEO of Northwest Airlines until he designed and implemented a merger with Delta Airlines.  Prior to that he was General Counsel of the airline and a partner at the law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand.  During his tenure at Northwest Airlines, he specialized in finance and management and brought the airline to reasonable profitability.  He is currently on the Board of the Chrysler Corporation, the American International Group, Inc. (AIG), Hilton Worldwide, Inc., and a senior advisor to the Blackstone Group.  Doug was Chairman of the Air Transport Association of America and Director of the Twin Cities United Way.  He is a member of the board of the Minnesota Orchestra and Chairman of the Board of the Guthrie Theater.
