Clare Muñana

Board Member

Clare Muñana founded Ancora Associates, Inc. and serves as their President.  She has extensive management consulting experience with a focus on strategic and organizational alignment and transformations, having performed numerous engagements for clients in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Ms. Muñana has led teams tasked with fostering economic development in underserved regions within the State of Illinois, devised international strategy for a US/European foundation and museum, formulated strategic planning for a major natural history museum, created a technology plan for a major U.S. school district, and established an economic development agency for a large U.S. city.  Prior to leading Ancora, Ms. Muñana worked on projects for the World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with Grant Thornton International, and was a researcher at the Brookings Institute.

She received a Bachelors degree from Boston College, a MA with Honors in International Economics and Politics from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She has a certificate in French Civilization and Language from the Sorbonne and has been named a Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by the French government.

Ms. Muñana is a recipient of the New Leaders for New Schools Leadership Award, the Schaffner Award of the Kellogg School of Management, and the Chicago United Business Leaders of Color Award.  She served as Vice President of the Chicago Board of Education for over ten years. She is a board member of The Aspen Institute, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Chicago Children First Fund (Vice President), The Field Museum, the National Museum of Mexican Art, and the Terra Foundation for American Art.
